Located on the green in the center of historic Townsend, MA at the junction of route 119 and 13.
Food and Snacks are available. Restroom facilities on site.
- Space Allocation: Space priority is given to the artist or crafter that rented the space the previous year.
To reserve a particular space, your application with your payment must be received by September 1, 2008.
After September 1, spaces will be allocated on a first come first serve basis. Spaces are 10' x15'.
There are a limited number of shady and electrical spaces.
- This is a two day fair. The fair hours are from 9 AM to 4 PM on Saturday - 10 AM to 3 PM on Sunday.
You must check in by 8 am on Saturday and by 9 am on Sunday. If you are not able to come either day of the
fair, we would appreciate a phone call 978-597-2106 (Main Office) or 978-597-8842 cell 508-341-3098
(Karen & Jim - Fair coordinators). If you need to leave early, please let us know ahead of time.
- A picture of your art or craft must accompany all new applications.
New artists/crafters will not be allowed into the fair unless we have been able to approve your product.
The product you are selling must be handcrafted in some way by you.
Although we do enjoy going to "Flea Markets" ourselves, this fair is not a "Flea Market".
We do allow from time to time some vendors that do not handcraft their items,
but only because they fit into our theme of a New England Fair.
- All applications, new and old, must list in general terms (wood, painting, quilts etc.) all the products
you intend to sell. This is for your own benefit as well as others so we will not place you next to other vendors selling the
same product.
This fair is scheduled for Rain or Shine. No refunds will be issued after September 1st, 2008. Please come prepared for inclement weather.
No tables, tents or extension cords are provided.
*Confirmation will be made by phone, e-mail and/or postcard so it is important that we have all this information filled out completely on the application.

Townsend Historical Society Newsletter
Hello Crafters. Its that time of year again. Time to start thinking about booking
your events for the year. Please look over the enclosed application for the Townsend
Historical Society Crafts Fair carefully. Please review the rules outlined on the
application. If you have any comments or suggestions please feel free to call us
(978-597-2106 Main Office or 978-597-8842 Karen & Jim Fair Coordinators). Anything
suggestions for making the fair easier for you will be welcomed.
If your application is received before September 1st the application fee will be
$55.00 for the 2 days. If your application is received after September 1st and
that includes calling or coming on the day of the fair, the application fee will
be $60.00.
- We realize that the parking situation for this event is very limited and it is
difficult for the vendors to get their materials set up on the common. In the
morning while you are unloading your materials you can park on the common or
along the sides of the common, but you must move your vehicle after you are through
unloading. Vendor parking is available at the back lot of the common along Route 13
or on one of the smaller streets near the common and also at the Townsend Town Hall.
- If you need a ride back and forth to where your car is parked we will be happy to
provide that service. If you need someone to watch over your booth while you are gone
we will also be happy to help there too.
- There is no parking along the sidewalk on the Route 119 or Route 13 sides of the common.
- Parking is not allowed at any of the churches surrounding the common either.
We would like to keep the Brookline Street side of the common open for "customers".
If people cannot find a spot to park they will not stop and shop.
- We will have dollies available and people to help unloading.
- Please call us in advance if you will have any special needs for moving your craft material.
We will be happy to help!
- We will also be running the "Bring a Friend Program" this year. If you sign up an
artist or crafter friend that has not attended our fair for at least two years, the
fee for your space will be half price. This program only applies to crafters who
regularly attend our fair year after year, not for first time crafters.
In order to generate more interest in out fair for both vendors and buyers we are starting this year to have
some arts and crafts demonstrations. Last year we had a "puppeteer" join us on Sunday and he was well
received by both adults and children.
We are looking for vendors who have a type of craft that would lend itself to demonstration of their art
(see the list below). If you know of anyone who would be interested in joining us this year please have them
send along an application.
The demonstrators' space would be free as long as they agree to stay for the two day fair and stage several
demonstrations throughout the two days. They would be allowed to sell their wares or advertise their service
also.
If the demonstrator is accepted then the crafter that recommended the demonstrator will only have to pay half
price for their space for the weekend.
List of Suggested Demonstrators:
Basket Makers
Candle Makers
Spinners
Weavers
Colonial or Civil War Re-enactors
Pottery
Blacksmiths
Tin Smiths
Colonial Floor Cloth Makers
Coopering
Carpentry (wood working skills such as whittling, colonial box making etc…)
Small Farm Animal Demonstrations or showing
